18 July 2025 – Municipality of Pogoni – Pogoniani Conference Center

The Geodesy–Surveying & GNSS Research Unit of the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering at the University of West Attica, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pogoni, is pleased to host the workshop titled “Documentation and Promotion of Stone Bridges of Greece – The Bridges Located in the Municipality of Pogoni” on July 18, 2025, at the Pogoniani Conference Center. This event is dedicated to the preservation, study, and promotion of Greece’s rich heritage of traditional stone bridge architecture.

Located in the heart of Epirus—an area celebrated for its historic craftsmanship and distinctive natural landscape—the Municipality of Pogoni is home to some of the most iconic stone bridges in Greece. These timeless structures stand as enduring symbols of both technical ingenuity and cultural identity, bearing witness to the region’s social and economic history across centuries.

This workshop brings together experts from various fields, including researchers, local authorities, architects, historians, and community stakeholders, to share knowledge and develop strategies for the documentation, conservation, and promotion of these important cultural monuments. Through engaging presentations and meaningful discussions, participants will examine both the challenges and opportunities involved in safeguarding this invaluable aspect of Greece’s tangible and intangible heritage.

We warmly invite all participants to contribute to this shared mission of protecting and celebrating the stone bridges of Pogoni—and by extension, those across Greece—ensuring their legacy continues to inspire generations to come.
